You might not have previously heard of Digital Shadow, but it is a scary piece of software. No, Digital Shadow itself isn’t scary but what it reveals may really shock you.
I ran Digital Shadow and found that most of the information it obtained from Facebook about me was correct but not threatening. Most of the same information can be found by a simple Google search. After all, I do lead a rather public life on the Internet. However, Digital Shadow got my location totally wrong. I have no idea why the software thinks I live in a rock quarry 1,200 miles from here. Really! The software did get my age correct (no big surprise as that is public domain information anyway) and correctly identified several of my friends and relatives.
If I had something to hide, however, I might be worried about Facebook and some of the information about me that is available to anyone via the online site.
