Finstagram, or “fake Instagram,” is for Those Who Value Online Privacy in a Place Meant Just For Friends

Social media sites are very popular but are a privacy nightmare. Anyone who values privacy does not post public status messages of “this is where I am and what I am doing.” However, one new site may be the solution. Finstagram and similar web sites seem to appeal to Generation Z’.

According to an article by Lauren Ball in Northwestern University’s Medill Reports Chicago, “The younger generation desires more privacy while floating through the currents of social media – specifically, Instagram, which hosts the Finstagram accounts. They want a space to share pictures and thoughts with a select group of friends, to feel secure in their digital habits.”
